About:

Cardamom essential oil has an incredible aroma which is refreshing, vitalizing and comforting; it’s recognizable in mouthwatering foods and teas. Cardamom has a scent which is joyful, fresh, and clean with a spicy, sweet finish. It is one of the best oils for helping the body expel gas and for general digestive upset including nausea.  It also is supportive of healthy lungs and can be used in a diffuser or a vapor rub to support decongestion. Cardamom can be added to massage oils to help the body balance out muscle spasms and soreness. Specialty chocolate truffles with a hint of cardamom essential oil are a delicious delicacy and Cardamom essential oil is a well-known aphrodisiac.

Cardamom is a perennial herb which originated in Southern India and Sri Lanka, it has silky blade shaped leaves and many small yellow flowers with purple tips, below the flowers forms a seed pod from which the essential oil is extracted.

History:

Cardamom has been used for over 3000 years in India and China and is an essential herb in Eastern and Western herbal pharmacopeias. Ayurveda and TCM use the seeds for gas, nausea, constipation, congestion and for its calming and soothing effect. It is best known for culinary use and as a widely traded spice with high market value.

Safety Information:

Cardamom is non-toxic but is not recommended for use with children. It is a gentle essential oil on the skin, however, it is best used diluted to less than 10% avoid the possibility of skin irritation. Average dilution for general use is around 0.5 – 4% or 3-23 drops per ounce of carrier.

Suggested Uses:

Digestive Support: 7 drops Cardamom, 3 drops Fennel, 3 drops Ginger in ½ ounce carrier.  Massage a small amount into the abdomen for relief.

Awakening Diffuser Blend: 2 drops Cardamom, 2 drops Tulsi, 2 drops Peppermint, 2 drops Lemon for respiratory support, focus and air purification.

Sensual Perfume: 5 drops Cardamom, 10 drops Cocoa Perfume, 1 drop Rose Absolute or 10 drops Rose Perfume, 5 drops Vanilla in 2 tablespoons carrier oil. Yum!

Try a drop of Cardamom with a drop of Cocoa Perfume and Vanilla Perfume for a delicious scent!

Add a drop of Cardamom to your coffee, chai tea, breads, cakes, chocolates, cookies, mixed drinks, hot chocolate, frosting; Remember a little bit goes a long way.
