Soothing Lip Balm & Gloss for the Win!
Sensitive, dry, chapped, parched lips can be an unintended result from hours spent out in the Summer sun. As much as we try, it can be difficult to protect our lips every time we head outside - the sun, the wind, and even saltwater are culprits, not to mention we don't always stay hydrated enough - We are human after all!
Here at Rosemary's Garden we are your one-stop-shop for making your own HEALTHY, NATURAL, SOOTHING lip balms and glosses. It's actually a lot easier than it sounds! AND not only can you customize flavors to your liking, you can also select oil and butter combinations to make the kind of lip balm you like - thin & glossy, thick & creamy, tinted, etc.
Popular ingredients include:
Beeswax -Combine with plant oils to bring the lip balm to a semi-hard/semi-soft consistency for application
Essential Oils - While not necessary, many herbalists use essential oils to flavor their balms. This can be a simple flavor such as rose or lime OR a combo like Lemon-Lime, Cocoa-Peppermint… The ideas are endless!
Herbal Colorants (Alkanet Root, Beet Root Powder, Hibiscus Powder to name a few) - Create tinted lip balm with whole or powdered herbs in infused in plant oils
Plant Oils (Almond, Apricot Kernal, Castor, Coconut, Jojoba, etc.) - Use one oil as a base or make a blend! Infuse your oils with skin-loving herbs like Calendula and Comfrey to boost your blend.
PRO TIP: Castor oil (as little as two drops) creates a shiny gloss
